This morning I watched a small sparrow carefully gather dried up pieces of grass. And by carefully I mean, with each and every blade she picked up with her tiny beak she seemed to be able to detect its readiness immediately. She would pick them up one by one, and determine if they would go or if they would stay. Many of them she dropped back to the ground; only a few were chosen.
Matthew 22:14 For many are called, but few are chosen.
After she had gathered all the delicate blades she safely took them all in her beak and flew away.
I wish I could have seen where she went. I imagine it's a place high up in a tree. A tall tree, with strong roots, and beautiful reaching branches. A tree that provides safety and comfort. It's no wonder she took the time to carefully choose her building material. The building material would be used to prepare a place to care for and nurture her lil' ones. This would be her kingdom, the kingdom in which her children would live.
John 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
There is so much we can gather from the tiny sparrow.
As I observed her from the window, I couldn't help but think about how much God loves the same lil' bird I was watching. One lil' bird. On an entire planet. A planet full of millions of birds just like her, yet God cares for her individually. He cares so much for her that, He watches over her and He knows and will even see when she falls to the ground.
Matthew 10:29 What is the price of two sparrows--one copper coin? But not a single sparrow can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it.
That is amazing. Unbelievable, and amazing.
The thing that's even more amazing, is how much more He cares for you.
Matthew 10:31 Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.
